General information

The website www.antiviolenta.gov.md is dedicated to preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, to improve the public’s access to information regarding the phenomenon of violence against women and domestic violence, the mechanism for resolving cases of domestic violence, the infrastructure of social services for victims of domestic violence and family aggressors, as well as useful resources/information intended for both victims and professionals in the field.

The creation of this website represents both the fulfillment of the Government’s commitments through the ratification of the Istanbul Convention and the responsibility of the central public administration authorities to ensure access to information for individuals regarding the mechanism, measures to prevent and combat acts of violence against women and domestic violence (Law 45/2007 on the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence, Article 8, paragraph (1), letter c)).

Furthermore, the legislator has established the responsibility for creating and maintaining this website at the national level within the mandate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, in its capacity as the central specialized authority of the state, empowered with functions of developing and promoting policies to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence, as well as providing social assistance to victims and aggressors. The role of other governmental entities with competencies in this field, namely the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education and Research, is to contribute to the updating of the official website regarding violence against women and domestic violence by providing general information on activities carried out and projects implemented, as well as statistical data collected based on unique indicators for all authorities, which are included in the statistical work programs approved by the Government (Law 45/2007 on the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence, Article 8, paragraph (1), letter c) and paragraph (11), letter a)).

The initial design of the website was created in 2018 with the logistical support provided by UN Women and thanks to the financial support of the Government of Sweden.
