On August 26th, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Felicia Bechtoldt, conducted a working visit to the Center for Assistance and Protection of Victims and Potential Victims of Human Trafficking (CAP). The center, funded by the state budget, is a highly specialized institution that provides support to individuals affected by human trafficking and domestic violence, as well as unaccompanied repatriated children.
During the visit, the State Secretary discussed essential matters with the Center's team, including staff salaries, the quality of services provided, and collaboration with public institutions and non-governmental organizations. Issues such as staff burnout and the effectiveness of assistance services were also addressed, highlighting the importance of close cooperation to effectively meet the needs of victims.
CAP offers vital services, including temporary accommodation, social assistance, psychological counseling, primary legal aid, and referral to medical services. The center has a total capacity of 34 places, of which 24 are designated for women and mother-child pairs, while 10 places are allocated to children separated from their parents.
In 2023, CAP assisted 180 people, of whom 144 benefited from temporary accommodation and 36 were supported through day services.
The center provided assistance to 16 victims and presumed victims of human trafficking, specifically 8 women and 8 girls, of whom 5 women and 4 girls had been sexually exploited. Additionally, 113 people received support for domestic violence, including 12 children and 47 mother-child pairs. The center also provided assistance to 26 victims of sexual violence and 19 refugees.
