Forty-five social workers from all districts of the country have benefited from training courses on violence against women and domestic violence

Forty-five social workers from all districts of the country have improved their knowledge and skills to effectively respond to cases of violence against women and domestic violence in a manner aligned with the standards established in the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention), including with regard to prevention and victim protection.

From December 12 to 16, 2022, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the National Social Assistance Agency, in partnership with the Council of Europe, organized two training courses for social workers on violence against women and domestic violence in Chișinău, under the project “Support for the Implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova.”

These training sessions were designed to empower social workers with new knowledge and skills on how to train other social workers on effectively responding to cases of violence against women and domestic violence, in accordance with the standards established by the Istanbul Convention.

In 2023, participants who were certified after these training sessions will serve as trainers for local cascade training courses for social workers. The Council of Europe aims to disseminate knowledge to as many social workers as possible across the country through this initiative.
