The regulatory framework for providing social services to victims of domestic violence will be aligned with international standards

The activities of service providers offering rehabilitation to victims of domestic violence and the challenges they face were discussed during the roundtable titled "Aligning the Regulatory Framework for Providing Social Services to Victims of Domestic Violence with International Standards and Best Practices," organized on July 21 by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in partnership with UN Women Moldova, with financial support from the Government of Japan.

The event took place in the context of the Ministry's initiative to revise the Framework Regulation for the organization and functioning of rehabilitation centers for domestic violence victims, as well as the Minimum Quality Standards for social services provided to victims of domestic violence. It brought together representatives of public authorities and institutions, civil society, and development partners.

During the event, participants were introduced to the preliminary findings of the analysis aimed at improving the regulation of services for domestic violence victims. They also made proposals for amendments to the mentioned documents, which are to be aligned with international standards and the provisions of the Istanbul Convention.

It is worth recalling that in the Republic of Moldova, the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) entered into force on May 1, 2022, with Moldova becoming the 35th state to ratify it.
