The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is in the process of developing a new policy document on violence against women and domestic violence—the National Program for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in the Republic of Moldova for the years 2023-2027.
The Program represents a continuation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence for the years 2018-2022. Its aim is to prevent and combat all forms of violence against women and domestic violence, and it is aligned with the principles of the Istanbul Convention.
To ensure a systemic approach to the phenomenon of violence against women, including domestic violence, and an effective national response, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, in partnership with UN Women, the Council of Europe Office in Chișinău, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Women's Law Center (CDF), is conducting public consultations dedicated to the Program on March 16-17.
The proposals and recommendations made during the consultations will contribute to finalizing the policy document.
Over 70 participants, including representatives from central and local public authorities, social service providers, civil society, development partners, and the academic community, are engaged in the consultation events.
