Violence against women is a form of discrimination and a violation of fundamental human rights.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection played a key role in the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. The Ministry was designated by the legislature as the coordinating body for ensuring the implementation and monitoring of this international treaty.
Mechanisms have diversified with the signing and ratification of the Istanbul Convention. This Convention provides us with an opportunity and an approach to address this phenomenon through four pillars: Prevention, Punishment, Protection, and Integrated Policies. The Government has developed and adopted the National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence.
