The government approved the Regulation on the organization and operation of the National Agency for the Prevention and Combat of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence

Starting from 2024, the implementation of public policies for the prevention and combat of violence against women and girls, as well as the national application of the Istanbul Convention, will be coordinated by the National Agency for the Prevention and Combat of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. Today, the government approved, by resolution, the organizational structure and the regulation under which the institution will operate.

The approved document regulates the mission, areas of activity, responsibilities, and the organizational framework of the Agency, which will perform the following functions:

– Implementation of policies for the prevention and combat of violence against women and domestic violence;

– Coordination of inter-institutional activities;

– Monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of public policies in the field;

– Facilitating cooperation between public administration authorities and civil society, dialogue with development partners, and collaboration with specialized institutions in its areas of activity.

The Agency will have the status of a central administrative authority under the Government, comprising 22 staff units, including 6 leadership positions, 15 executive positions, and 1 technical service position.

Additionally, the institution will host the National Coordinating Council in the field of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, composed of representatives from the Agency, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, the Ombudsman, the General Prosecutor's Office, and the National Council for State Guaranteed Legal Aid.

The resolution will come into force on January 1, 2024.
