For one week, practitioners in the fields of prevention, combating human trafficking, and victim protection, who are involved in the National Referral Mechanism for the protection and assistance of crime victims, will engage in simulated scenarios based on the national context to identify and investigate cases of human trafficking for labor exploitation and sexual exploitation.
During the launch of the exercise, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu discussed with the head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova, Kelly Keiderling, and Andrea Salvoni, the OSCE Special Representative for Combating Human Trafficking, about strengthening cooperation and efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking.
The national training exercise includes representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the National Social Assistance Agency, the National Investigation Inspectorate, the Center for Combating Human Trafficking, the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, and the General Inspectorate for Migration. Also participating are employees of the Prosecutor General's Office, representatives of the International Center “La Strada,” the National Center for Training, Assistance, Counseling, and Education in Moldova, and the National Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
It is worth noting that in March 2022, the Government approved the Program for the creation and development of the National Referral Mechanism for the protection and assistance of crime victims for the years 2022-2026, along with the Action Plan for 2022-2024 regarding its implementation, developed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, aimed at the prompt identification of crime victims and ensuring their access to the necessary assistance and protection.
