Mechanisms for transposing the European Union Directive 79/7/EEC into national legislation were discussed during an event organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection

The mechanisms for transposing the European Union Directive on the progressive implementation of the principle of equal treatment between men and women in the field of social security were discussed today during an event organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

The transposition of the Directive includes a set of actions through which the laws, regulations, and procedures governing the social security system in our country will be adjusted in accordance with European standards, ensuring that men and women are treated equally regarding access to social security measures.

Felicia Bechtoldt, State Secretary: "By transposing this directive, the member states of the European Union have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting gender equality and eliminating any form of discrimination between sexes regarding access to social security benefits. Today, we have the responsibility to implement these principles and ensure that every citizen of Moldova, regardless of gender, benefits from the same rights and opportunities in terms of social security."

The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection with the support of the Delegation of the European Union, the "Institutum Virtutes Civilis" Association, the "Friedrich Ebert" Foundation Moldova, Expert-Grup, and the Institute for European Policies and Reforms.
