The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has launched training sessions for the formation of community social workers to strengthen the Case Management Base in situations of domestic violence

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with financial support from the United Kingdom, is organizing training sessions from August to October 2024 on "The Basics of Case Management as an Effective Response to Domestic Violence" for community social workers across the country.

"In a healthy society, there should be no place for violence in any form. Prevention and effective interventions in cases of violence can only occur by properly training our frontline colleagues, who encounter such cases daily and must respond promptly. I thank our partners for their support in organizing these training sessions for community social workers, who are the key people in identifying and stopping cases of violence," stated Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labor and Social Protection.

"Community social workers are essential in identifying and managing cases of domestic violence. A deep understanding of the issues, solutions, and intervention strategies is extremely important for making progress in preventing and combating domestic violence. Through education and training, we can better strengthen our skills to recognize and combat these forms of violence in our communities," said Dr. Karina Nersesyan, UNFPA Resident Representative in Moldova.

During these training sessions, community social workers will acquire the necessary skills to identify the causes of domestic violence, the contributing factors, and the consequences of domestic violence, as well as develop victim-centered skills and techniques for managing cases of violence.
