Alongside Member of Parliament Marina Morozova, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu was in New York from March 11 to 15 to participate in the opening and general debates of the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
During the event, the minister presented the experience and initiatives of the Republic of Moldova in supporting families with children and creating more opportunities for women in our country, enabling them to more easily balance family and professional life.
Additionally, the minister held several meetings with officials, including Helena Dalli, the European Commissioner for Equality, with whom he discussed attracting resources for our country to open and rehabilitate as many childcare facilities as possible in Moldova. The minister also emphasized the need to intensify efforts to prevent and combat violence against women.
On the margins of the official visit to New York, Alexei Buzu also met with Achim Steiner, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), during which he reported on the reforms being implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and thanked him for the support provided by UNDP Moldova in implementing the energy compensation program and the ambitious digital transformation program of the ministry, which is currently underway.
