The report on coordinating inter-institutional and inter-sectoral cooperation in the field of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, presented during a roundtable discussion

The report on coordinating inter-institutional and inter-sectoral cooperation in the field of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence was presented at the roundtable "Coordinating inter-institutional and inter-sectoral cooperation in the field of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence," held on October 5.

The study aimed to examine the institutional framework and coordination mechanisms for implementing the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova, identify gaps and obstacles in the effective coordination between agencies in the country, and offer suggestions for improvement.

Additionally, the report focused on mechanisms for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, as well as identifying, guiding, and assisting victims of violence against women and domestic violence.

The strategic vision for creating the National Agency for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, in line with Article 10 of the Istanbul Convention, was also presented.

Lilia Pascal, Head of the Gender Equality Policy Department, stated: “Through this agency, we will strengthen our efforts towards a safer and more equitable society. The new entity will coordinate resources, facilitate information sharing, and promote best practices in the fight against gender-based violence. It will also fortify partnerships between institutions, NGOs, and local communities, creating a united front against gender violence. We will work together to promote education and awareness in the community, to change mindsets, and to end the cycle of violence.”

The event was organized as part of the project "Supporting the Implementation of the Istanbul Convention in the Republic of Moldova," implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection with the support of the Council of Europe.
